About the Event

A mantra is a word, sound, or phrase that is repeated in order to focus the mind and create a meditative state. Mantra meditation is a powerful way to spark feelings of profound happiness, and an appreciation for being alive!

Chanting mantras with a group takes the practice to another level. You are lifted by the voices and energy of the people around you, and you experience a sense of true calm and inner bliss. Combine that with a delicious cup of Chai Tea and you have yourself a beautiful Sunday morning experience.

The singing is a mix of Indian Kirtan and Western spiritual music. The chanting circle gives back to the people to redefine and discover from within. A time to experience the profound healing, centering and pure joy of chanting - the yoga of song - and connect with others in our friendly community.

The mantras we chant are simple to learn - and words are provided. Spiritual without being religious, they are often sung in Sanskrit, the ancient language of Yoga, and represent different forms of the divine in the Indian culture such as Shiva, Krishna, Buddha or Ganesh. Other medicine songs will be sung from many cultures and languages for it is not in the way you pray it is about the intention and heart. May we seek to not identify but to seek the very essence of life itself allowing all expressions to dance in harmony.

Led by Kathryn Gawera, Marybeth King, and Matthew Koehler
