Chakra Vocal Toning for Beginners

If you can make a sound you can hum. If you can hum you can tone. We all sound naturally. From a babies cry to the ahh of a yawn as you wake in the morning. Crying, laughing, moaning, and screaming are all spontaneous bursts of sound that release emotion whether painful or pleasurable.

Chakra Toning is a powerful technique to resonate and balance your chakras using vowel  sounds. This is a good exercise to do every day, and is a great introduction to exploring the harmonics naturally present in the vowels. Vowels carry the “information energy” of speech, whereas consonants act to break up the energy flow.

Within just a few minutes of humming or sounding there is increased synchronization of brain waves which calms and soothes the system. With regular practice you may get a sense of regulation and thus "tune your instrument." It helps to increase sensory perception, release limiting beliefs, stress and dis-ease, synchronizes heart-brain-body rhythms producing a state of centeredness, balance, and integrity.

The word "chakra" means "wheel" and is an energy center that allows energy to pass through before becoming experiences. Experiences are constantly awakened and relived when energy is activated in the chakras, giving rise to the distinct states of consciousness related to various types of energy. Chakras play the music of our soul. 

When energy flow is unimpeded in our body, it travels effortlessly through the chakras. But, the natural journey of our energy from the base of the spine to the top of the head is often blocked. Unresolved experiences restrict the passage of energy through a particular chakra. Resolved experiences allow energy to pass through effortlessy.

Together we will journey through sounding and toning of the seven major chakras. We will tune ourselves. When we purify the voice through chanting, toning, breathwork, and meditation our voice becomes clear and becomes a healing balm for others.
