About the Event
Cacao is a powerful medicine historically used by Mayans, Aztecs, and likely others of the region. It was often used in ceremonies, as food, as currency, and as medicine. This magical bean provides us with a variety of nutrients and antioxidants which help humans to thrive. Cacao catalyzes connections by opening up the heart, giving access to ecstatic states. Cacao medicine brings people together, serving as a bridge for everyone to access deeper healing. The drink is created with water and served with love. The ceremony includes up to two cups of cacao for each participant.
The core group of musicians carries a set of songs to guide participants into musical expression. There are lyric sheets provided to encourage participation but if you do not wish to sing you can always come to listen. Through mantra, chant, and medicine song we immerse ourselves in the inherent vibration of being. If we are stuck in our ego thinking too much about how we sound or what the word means, our voice often becomes trapped or small. When we release our mind, we find our voice opens and we can be one with sound. From this place, we experience the pure joy of shared experience through chanting together.
